Media Savvy launching their sophomore annual exhibition

Originating in Sunderland and established in 2010 Media Savvy’s  mission is to promote employability, education and creativity through the medium of digital arts and media.

Over our short history, we have celebrated success in various business awards, including being selected as one of the final 8 UK businesses in the inaugural Lloyds TSB Enterprise Awards after being named Best Start-up business in the North East and Yorkshire from over 200 short-listed.

We deliver accredited workshops to marginalised and hard to reach groups, including offenders, those with mental ill health, refugees and young people excluded from mainstream education.

2SHINE! celebrates the creative work produced by our learners for a second consecutive year,  showcasing the fantastic digital arts and media projects completed over the 2014-15 academic period.

Media Savvy’s Lead Creative Tutor and exhibition organiser, Lisa Miller, stated:

”Last year’s SHINE! exhibition was a massive success.”

”We witnessed the benefits not only of gaining skills, but also to the whole learner. Confidence grew greatly by reinforcing their achievements, so much so some even spoke at the event, describing their journey.”

”Hearing these stories was so inspirational, it became even more important to continue as planned in our efforts to provide the exhibitions annually. So with thanks to this years learners, support from the University of Sunderland and Sunderland FACL we are launching 2SHINE! to celebrate again.”

The event will be held at the Design Centre Gallery in Sunderland on Friday 18th September, 7.00pm -9.00pm and run through to noon Friday 25 September. Additional presentations will be made on Tuesday 22nd September, 10am-12.30pm.

In order to top last year’s SHINE! exhibition we are currently looking for sponsors to help us create the ultimate experience for both our learners and guests of the event.
